Deal or No Deal? Ask the Question   » Permalink  |  TrackBack (0)

In a contest for the Leadership or Deputy Leadership of the Labour Party it is essential in my opinion that all candidates give an absolutely clear answer to this question: In the event of a hung Parliament and the leaders of this shower knocking on your door... is it Deal, or No Deal?

Im of much the same mind. If your let get kicked outnext time, I wouldn't want to be tied to a party that support you.

Enough money to fight a war, but not enough to keep cottage hospitals open where I live. That's Blair's legacy.

No, Councillor. Let the issue alone, please. As long as potential LibDem supporters know that they would in practice be voting for yet more New Labour incompetence and sleaze, they may think twice.

Ming is making a major tactical error in this respect, I think.

Funny you should use the deal or no deal, I intended to use it, in particular, I was thinking of Commander Yates of the Yard offering it to those involved in emailscandals'R'us...

BTW, Bob, I have just been offered a book deal by the publisher The Friday Project who have just published Rachel North London's book.

I put one of the wrong links on my comment below. Here's Andrew Rawnsley in today's Observer on some of the dilemma's potentially facing Ming. We should never have PR or the country would be facing this kind of nonsense all the time.

A book deal! Congratulations, John. Ask them if they want the everyday story of a backbench Labour councillor. No... I thought not.

Bob

You can check them out, http://thefridayproject.co.uk they specialise in "turning the best of the web into the finest of books". You are in the top political 100, which is a plus, if you were crap I would not keep coming back. You have a sharp wit, which I find very entertaining, and can make some very serious points which make you think. The ingredients are there already. You came to my attention via Iain Dale's Diary, who also rates you, and the Black and White Minstrel Show. They spotted me via my posts on Rachel North London's blog. It makes a change for me to be headhunted. If you don't want to wait for them, there is an author's page where you can fill in a questionnaire and see if you have got what it takes. I'd put my money on you, because I reckon you're a good bet.

BTW, I think John Dyson is wrong, Public Relations is everything...

HaHa. That'll teach me not to use acronyms! I also failed to spot that Ming is apparently prepared to do a deal without Proportional Representation. Still don't trust them though...

John Dyson: There I was, sat under the bridge, fishing away, not expecting to catch anything...

haha. Caught fair and square. Sense of humour failure yesterday I think. Something to do with the comments of "Freddie" on the Eton Trifles thread below. I should know not to rise to the bait. Can't stand people making assertions without any evidence, comes from being an historian I think - though I suppose lawyers aren't too different?

JohnDyson: I think your vacuum sucks! Yes, we can all have off days, and some comments get our dander up. I tend to take the critical approach which challenges assertions rather than accept the positivists approach which starts of with an assumption and then tries to build an essay to support it.

BTW, you might like the lighthearted Prison/hotel posts on my blog, and notssausure gave me a great link to give it even more flavour.
