I do not believe that images of minstrels are inherently racist, it is how they are used that determines whether they are racist or not. I haven't seen the image you posted, but I can imagine that it was pathetic, even offensive but not racist as you were not setting out to cause race hatred.

This isn't my council website. There is a link to that from here, and it is an entirely different beast. On this site we have a comments section. People are often rude and childish in their comments to me, and by and large, that's what they get back. It isn't a parliamentary debate or the Oxford Union, it's more like Hyde Park Corner on a Sunday morning. We have banter, we are self-opinionated, and we fall out. Alternatively there are all sorts of other blogs. Some are very intelligent, don't have comments... and they are extremely good. May I recommend http://normblog.typepad.com as a splendid example.

Margaret, I didn't say it was not for women. Why is it that you Tories (OK, I know they are your 3rd political group since your election, but sup with the devil and you better use a long spoon) constantly seek to misinterpret people? Is it because you have no policies to talk about?

I think if you look carefully you will see the last blog entry was 12th December. The 21st (i.e. today) is the date that the last comment was received. It would be churlish to ignore the many kind people who have sent their best wishes.
